Aalborg University has once again shown its strength in sustainability, getting an impressive ranking of number 42 in the renowned UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2024.

"This is an achievement that testifies to AAU's continued efforts to integrate sustainability into all aspects of the university's operations and teaching. The university has implemented a number of initiatives that contribute to a greener campus and a more sustainable world," says Mogens Juul Møller, Campus Director.

UI GreenMetric assesses universities based on a number of criteria, including energy consumption, waste management, water consumption, transport and educational efforts in sustainability. AAU's high ranking reflects the university's work to promote a sustainable future through innovative solutions and responsible practices.

In 2024, 300 new universities had joined the ranking that now includes 1,477 universities from 95 countries. AAU is the highest ranked Danish university in Green Metric.
