Sustainable Campus Service
Sustainability at AAU
In Campus Service, sustainability is ubiquitous in the work with the operation of the university's buildings and grounds. We work strategically with energy saving targets, energy optimisation, waste sorting, biodiversity, sustainable construction, purchasing quality furniture and CO2 accounts. Campus Service often enters into collaborations with students who can use AAU as a living lab and write projects about current concrete sustainability challenges. In this way they help to create knowledge for the world and an even more sustainable AAU.
At the same time, we enter into collaboration with other universities in Denmark, the Nordic countries and throughout Europe, where we share knowledge and learn from each other's experiences towards sustainable development. Campus Service contributes knowledge to annual international ranking studies that help show us how far we are with sustainability work in comparison with universities all over the world.
In Campus Service, two initiatives in particular have attracted a lot of attention inside and outside the university.
- One initiative is that we, as the first university in Denmark, converted our areas to Wild on Purpose, to the great delight of students and staff at AAU, and of course for animals and insects in the area.
- The second initiative is the creation of the Sustainable Campus Forum, as a forum where student and staff representatives have been given a forum to bring together all the many topics and ideas that come to the sustainable operation of the university.
